Gears Coopertition Rally

Cooperation is an important part in efficient work environments globally. We must all learn how to leverage each other’s strengths, use support, and help prop up weak points in order to meet the great challenges of our times.

Cooperative team work requires:

  • Respect: don’t forget that everyone in the team has an important role to play
  • Communication: don’t assume what others are thinking
  • Synchronization: if everyone is on the same page, it’s easy to get things done in the correct order

This set of GearsBot Arena challenges forces teams of teams to come up with ways to best cooperate to complete challenges.

You will be racing against another set of teams to see which ones have done their best to coordinate and achieve their goals.

General Mission

Your robot will be part of a team of robots. You will be starting in one of the grey areas. Your job will be to work together to move objects one of the green zones.

Mission 1

Robots need to move the green object to the lime area marked by yellow circles above.

The bottom robots cannot pass the red lines.

Practice Fields

First try these practice fields out to get the different robots to test their movements.

Bottom Left Robot – CyanBot

Bottom Right Robot – YellowBot

Top Left Robot – GreenBot

Top Right Robot – RedBot

The will all look Orange during the practice, but will have the above colors once playing in the Arena.

You are allowed to change the Robot design.

Once you think your bot is ready, please create a Zip of your code/robot.

Then, submit the Zip by logging your Team Name and uploading as ColorBot to this link.

You will only know if you did the work correctly once we test your team’s efforts in the Coopertition Rally Arena.

Mission 2

Robots need to move the green object to the lime area marked by arrows above.

The bottom robots cannot move from their spot, they are like factory robot arms:

  • There are 3 actuators (swivel base, arm, and elbow)
  • Play with different motors A, B, C to see what happens
  • Motor D controls the electromagnet at the tip of the arm
  • There’s a color sensor at that tip as well

The top robots are free to roam as they please, they are like dump trucks:

  • Motor D controls the angle of the top carrier part of the robot
  • Motor C controls an electromagnet on the bottom of the robot
